Who is ISF for?
The International School of Florence welcomes curious, global-minded students from all over the world. Our vibrant community serves learners from ages 3 to 18, bringing together a rich tapestry of over 38 nationalities. We cater to a diverse array of families, including international expats relocating to Tuscany, English-speaking families seeking global continuity, and local Italian families looking for a rigorous, multicultural education that opens doors worldwide. No matter your background, ISF offers an environment where your child can thrive.
The 4-Step admissions process
Here is how our structured onboarding pathway works from your initial curiosity to your child’s first day of class:

Step 1: inquire
To begin, simply complete our online enquiry form. The form securely collects basic parent contact details and your children’s current school history. Our admissions team responds to all enquiries within 48 hours. We will answer your initial questions and help you schedule a personal visit or a virtual meeting if you are currently abroad.
Inquire NowStep 2: visit
We highly recommend experiencing our community in action. We host individual, personalized tours of our campuses throughout the school year. You will explore our facilities, observe active classrooms, and meet our educators.

Step 3: apply
All formal applications are processed digitally through our dedicated Portal. To initiate the review, families must complete the digital form, upload all required student documentation, and pay the non-refundable application fee.
I Want to ApplyStep 4: admission test & screening
To ensure every student is set up for academic success, all applicants must complete an entry screening. For students entering Grades 6 through 11, this process includes a personal interview with our academic leadership team alongside the standard admissions test.

Final Evaluation & Enrollment
Once testing and document reviews are complete, our admissions committee performs a holistic evaluation. The final enrollment decision is promptly communicated to the family. If accepted, you will receive an official offer outlining the final steps to secure your child’s seat.

Application Deadlines
The main application window opens annually in October and runs through February, coinciding with our internal re-enrollment process for current families. Because space is limited across specific grade levels, we highly encourage early submissions. Applications received after February are reviewed on a rolling basis, strictly subject to projected enrollment numbers and remaining seat availability.
Mid-Year Entry
We understand that corporate and diplomatic relocations happen year-round. ISF accommodates mid-year transfers whenever a seat is available in the requested grade level. Our team works closely with arriving families to ensure academic records transfer smoothly and children transition seamlessly into their new classrooms mid-term.

What If My Child’s English Is Limited?
As an inclusive international school, we welcome students of varying language backgrounds. ISF provides a dedicated English as an Additional Language (EAL) support framework. Our language specialists work with students in small groups or directly inside the classroom to build their academic English proficiency while ensuring they stay fully engaged with the core curriculum.
