School Governance

Our Governance Structure

The International School of Florence operates as a non-profit foundation, governed by a dedicated Board of Directors. Unlike corporate institutions, our board focuses on long-term strategic planning, financial oversight, and upholding the school’s mission rather than daily operations. The Board works in close partnership with the Head of School, who manages the academic and administrative life of the campuses. Trustees are chosen from our community and professional networks for their expertise in education, law, finance, and strategic leadership. By maintaining this structure, we ensure that ISF remains stable, forward-thinking, and fully aligned with international best practices in school governance.

Our Non-Profit Mission

ISF is proud to operate strictly as a non-profit entity. We have no commercial shareholders, owners, or investors seeking financial returns.

Every Euro received through tuition and donations is directly reinvested into our School. This funding structure allows us to consistently improve our historic campuses, recruit world-class faculty, and upgrade classroom technology. Our financial independence guarantees that our sole priority is delivering an exceptional education and a supportive environment for our students.

Financial Transparency

We believe that transparency builds trust within our international community. ISF undergoes comprehensive independent financial audits every year to ensure compliance with both Italian law and international accounting standards.

Our annual financial summaries outline exactly how school funds are allocated to support academic excellence and facility maintenance. Members of our community can review our commitment to fiscal responsibility by downloading our latest reports below.
